BMW debuts its first electric bike

There BMW debuts on the market with its first electric bicycle. We are not talking about the presentation of a prototype as happened in London with the ebike Pedal Electric Cycle but of a real one electric bicycle that BMW is already marketing the Cruise e-Bike. There BMW electric bike is offered in a limited edition, the German car manufacturer has produced only 1,000 units and are marketed at a price of 2,599 euros.

There BMW it is not new in the two-wheeled pedal sector. The German manufacturer, among its products, includes numerous bicycles (see here), but the BMW Cruise e-Bike is the first to be equipped with a electric motor Bosh from 250 watts, just like that of the Smart ebike.


The design differs from the others electric bikes on the market. There BMW electric bike it is very sober, elegant and has a look that does not differ at all from the classics bicycles. The 250 watt Bosh motor uses sensors to measure torque, cadence and speed. The speed has been limited to 25 km / h in order to comply with European regulations. There BMW electric bike offers three driving modes, accessible via Bosh on-board computer. The on-board computer, as well as the battery, can be removed from the bicycle. The battery is 300 Wh, when it is discharged it can be easily removed using a key, its full recharge is guaranteed through a domestic electrical outlet in just over two hours.


There BMW electric bike has a weight of 22 kilograms (size M with frame of 46 centimeters). The frame is made of aluminum with front suspension. The shimano Alvio shifters feature 9 speeds. BMW equipment includes fenders, reflectors and front and rear lights. There BMW electric bike it is only available in German dealerships.
